Educational and recreational opportunities for kids and young adults abound on New York City's Waterfront. In all five boroughs there are facilities and educators that help young people to learn and get involved in a wide range of water-based issues and activities: Get Wet - Get Involved - Get into NYC Waterfront Boating safety could be the key for all water bound activities, get in touch with your local U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary to get all the vital facts. Build a Boat & Row with Floating the Apple, East River Apprenticeshop, Rocking the Boat, East River CREW & the New York Restoration Project. Catch & Release a fish with I Fish NY at Hudson River Park, Go Fish at Battery Park City or Central Park’s Harlem Meer. Clean a Beach at American Littoral Society's Annual Beach Clean-up; or join NYRP & Bronx River Alliance. Crew a Shell with NYRA, or with Growing with Rowing. Dive the Deep Sea with Kings County Divers, Kips Bay Boys, Girls Club, Aquatic Voyagers. Dragon Boat Race on Meadow Lake with MAD Dragon Boat Racers . Explore the Shore at Gateway National Recreation Area Junior Ranger program. Find out about the creatures that live in local waters at The River Project, NY Aquarium, Urban Divers Estuary Conservancy and Cornell Co-op's SAREP, GNRA Ecology village, Stuyvesant Cove & NYC Urban Rangers. Hang Ten at Breezy Point Surf Camp. Learn traditional maritime crafts, seamanship and our maritime heritage at South Street Seaport Museaum Kayak NYC's rivers and bays for free with the Downtown Boathouse & Jamaica Bay at Sebago Canoe Club. Paddle a Canoe on the Bronx River with the BR Alliance & Urban Rangers Restore a Habitat at GNRA Ecology village, Stuyvesant Cove NYC Urban Rangers. Sail with Manhattan Sailing Academy, Downtown Boathouse, Sea Scouts and TASCA Swim with instructors from the free programs at Learn to Swim; free lifeguard training from City Parks.
