North River History Project
The North River History Project seeks support and collaboration. Please contact us to have your photos, journals, videos, and reminiscences added to this digital history exhibit.
The North River History Project is an ongoing program to document the story of the Hudson River. North River is the name given to it by the Dutch in the early 17th century.
The purpose of the North River History Project is to promote awareness and appreciation of the history, culture and influence of the North River on people and communities.
The first phase of the project gathers and makes available on the web archival materials and data. The project builds a digital collection and access tools.
Phase two seeks to capture and record the memories of the Hudson River to add an oral history dimension to the project.
The project was funded by a Hudson River Improvement Fund grant from the Hudson River Foundation.
